“Nosce Te Ipsum” means Know Thyself in latin. It’s something I read in a book about surgical theaters. When I think of this saying and how it’s painted above the stage of the surgical theater, I think about how you can never really see your insides (Not without a lot of pain anyways). How do we translate what we feel on the inside, to the outside? Sometimes we don’t even know whats wrong with ourselves, either, because we can’t see the inside of our bodies.

When I made this piece I was going through a lot physically and mentally. This piece is called a “pocket altar.”
